TELFORD TO ATTACK CAMERON’S RECORD

The ultra-distance runner, M. Telford, of Auckland, will attempt the New Zealand-held record for the 600-mile run from Sydney to Melbourne next month. Telford made his decision after winning the Rothmans road race from Auckland to Hamilton on Saturday. “It was a fine warm up,” he said, after finishing the 84-mile run in lOhr 32min llsec, 3min 50sec ahead of the German-bom S, Bauer, of Wellington. The Christchurch runner,
D. Cameron, who ho<ds the Sydney-to-Melboume mark, was third, more than one hour and a half behind Telford.
