SPECULATORS SAID TO BE USING I.R.A.
f.v.z PA -Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, March 10 The "Daily Telegraph,” of London, says that a group of businessmen with American and European connections has been financing guerrilla bombings in Northern Ireland. The object is to buy property in Lister at rockbottom prices brought about by the terrorist campaign. the newspaper says.
British intelligence services are compiling dossiers on the men. based in the Irish Republic and receiving support from republican sympathisers in America and Europe, it says.
The group's leader it alleged to be a wealthy Dublin hotelier who has collected an estimated SNZI.63m from supporters abroad to buy property in Belfast when the guerrilla campaign reduces prices sufficiently.
He is known to have links with international and American organisations helping the Provisional Wing of the Irish Republican Army — including the Northern Aid Committee and the Irish American Organisation, says the "Daily
The hotelier is also accused of gun-running and helping to finance the I.R.A.
