100-acre limit imposed

The Kangiora County Council has decided to increase its minimum subdivisional standard from 50 acres to 100 acres, as has the Oxford County Council.

At a meeting yesterday, Cri T. W. Inch suggested the al-j teration to the minimum | standard, and also an increase in the frontage requirement to 660 feet. The County Chairman (Mr D. Ensor) said that when the 50-acre standard was imposed it was thought to be large enough. “But it wasn’t long before we were receiving “subdivisions of this nature, and it proved it was too small.” “Only a month ago,” Cr Inch said, “we received a directive from the Ministry of Works asking us to safeguard agriculturally productive and potentially productive land.
