Sheddan for his third title

.1. R. Sheddan, already winner of the Canterbury 1500 and 5000 metres titles this season, will be seeking his third provincial championship in the 3000 metres steeple chase at Queen Elizabeth 11 Park today. The New Zealand crosscountry representative was so impressive in his two earlier successes that he appears likely to complete the target of four titles he set himself at the start of the season.

His final assignment will be the 10.000 metres next Saturday, a race which he won last season.

Sheddan won the steeplechase in the record time of Bmin 50.6 sec in 1972, but he had to bow to the rangv M. Couldwel) last year. CouldwelJ might pose th? biggest threat to Sheddan today, although his preparation has probably not been as intensive as his rival’s.
