AUCKLAND, Mar. 7.

Single as well as’ married women tegphers are entitled to maternity leave under new regulations, the Auckland Education . Board was informed today. Under the amended legislation, women will qualify for six weeks salary to be paid on the birth of the child.

If a teacher elects to take maternity leave, she may not resume her teaching before three months after the birth, but must resume within 12 months.

If a teacher resigns because of pregnancy, she will still qualify fur the six weeks salary payment on the birth of her child. Under the old regulations no maternity “grant" was given to those who resigned. The regulations applied only to married wcmen.
