Better half by N.Z. Cement

New Zealand Cement Holdings, Ltd, reported that greater building and construction activity in the last six months resulted in a significant increase in sales of cement as compared with the corresponding period last year. This has been reflected in the profits for the half year to January 31, the directors said. An interim dividend of 5c a share — last year 3.75 c — has been declared and will be payable on all shares—including, the new issue on April 30.

The rate of interim dividend has been increased as the directors consider there should be a more even division between interim and final; this does not necessarily imply that there will be any increase in final dividend. Shares will become ex dividend on March 29.
