Production after factory fire
Production would not be affected at the fire-damaged premises of Aluminium Distributors, Ltd, 47 Leeds Street, the managing director (Mr V. Dickinson) said yesterday.
“We’ve been able to carry on production in our more confined building next door and should be able to meed most of our orders,” said Mri Dickinson. “The biggest problem is sorting out the orders — most of them were burned.” The fire gutted the 4500 sq. ft building about 2 a.m. yesterday, destroying the partlyassembled doors, windows and stock materials inside. Mr Dickinson said that the company was waiting for thei advice of insurance assessors [ [before deciding whether to! : rebuild. The blaze is thought to! I have started in a rubbish tin'
[and was not noticed until flames broke through the iroof. Firemen from Headquaiiters and Sydenham prevented [the fire from spreading to a store and other factories at the rear. The factory was opened less than five years ago.
