Bad light halts play

(N.Z. Press Association) HASTINGS. Bad light stopped play after eight scoreless innings when the touring Western United States All Stars softball team played Hawke’s Bay at Hastings yesterday afternoon.

The game was extremely close, with occasional displays of temper by both sides. Although they batted better than the home side, the Americans were held back by the accurate pitching of O. Walford, who took 25 strikeouts.

In an earlier game the All Stars ran up 16 runs in only four innings against on East Coast side which failed to score.
