Signing-on of crew
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb, 18. The New Zealand crew for the N.Z. Waitangi is expected to sign on on Wednesday. It was not known today what would be the ship’s home port for articles. But when he was in Auckland on Friday the chairman of the Shaw Savill Line, Mr B. P. Shaw, who is also a director of the new New Zealand line, said the ship would call at South Island ports. This would indicate the possibility of Lyttelton, Port Chalmers or Bluff as the home port. The British crew came ashore on Saturday waiting to be flown home. In the meantime the ship is loading meat at Auckland for the first voyage to Britain under the new flag.
