Ashe wins in Italy

A. Ashe (United States) has beaten M. Cox (Britain) 6-4, 7-5 to win the men’s international World Championship Tennis competition for the Astor Cup, in Bologna, Italy. O. Bengtson and B. Borg (Sweden) beat Ashe and R. Tanner (United States) 6-4, 5- 4-6, 7-6, 6-1 in the doubles final. In Toronto, Canada, T. Okker (the Netherlands) broke I. Nastase (Rumania) on the first two services and then went on to beat him 6- 6-4 to win the single title at the Toronto international tennis tournament.
