The Great Britain Rugby league team defeated France, 29-0, in a test match at Wigan, Lancashire, to confirm the superiority it showed in a 25-5 victory over the French in Grenoble last month.
It was the last chance for the British players to impress in international competition before the selectors choose the squad of 26 to tour Australia and New Zealand later this year. The British captain, D. Laughton, who may not be available for the tour, led his pack admirably and was given strong support by T. Clawson and C. Dixon. Laughton is hoping to move to an Australian club, Can-terbury-Bankstown. Tries for Great Britain were scored by P. Charlton, D. Redfern, Laughton, D. Willicombe, and J. Gray. Clawson kicked two goals and Gray and D. Watkins one each.
Shooting.—Ths Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, B. McMillan won three of the five titles at the North Island pistol shooting championships at the week-end. I
