SECOND FIRE IN FACTORY

(.‘I.Z, Press Association! HASTINGS, Feb. 17. Fire yesterday badly damaged a piastics factory near Hastings, for the second time in five days. Plix Products, Ltd, lost materials and machinery' valued at $150,000 in the first fire on Tuesday, and yesterday’s damage was estimated at $lOO,OOO. Fire officers said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances in either fire.

Hastings fire prevention officers are investigating, but the police have not been called in. Yesterday’s fire broke out in a small office used by the company secretary. Many firemen were at a farewell function tor Chief Fire Officer 1.. Harlen. who is retiring, and who left immediately to direct the fire fighting. Six fire engines attended the fire, which was under control in half an hour. Firemen used breathing apparatus to get into the smoke-filled building.
