Sheepdog memorial
'.I rum Our Own Reporter) i GERALDINE, Feb. 10. ' The memorial to sheepdogs of the Mackenzie Country at Lake Tekapo — now famous throughout New Zealand, and further afield — will be vested in the Mackenzie County Council to ensure its preservation for the future. The memorial — a sheepdog cast in bronze — was erected by a high-country committee as a tribtite to the value of the sheepdog in the development and working of the Mackenzie basin. Cr M. G. H. Murray paid a tribute to those who had organised the project and carried it through. The Mackenzie branch of Federated Farmers said that the bronze memorial, designed by Mrs Innes Elliott. ■ was now completed and paid for. The branch would like the county to take responsibility for a unique asset, {which would increase in historical value as time passed.
