Arson suspected

Detectives yesterday confirmed that they were treating as arson a fire which on Friday night partly destroyed the premises of the “Kawerau Gazette” and the Kawerau Printing Company. The owner of the company, Mr W. Lawrence jun., was admitted to Whakatane Hospital with bums suffered in the fire. He was reported to be in a state of shock and in only fair condition. Detective-Inspector S. B. McEwan, of Hamilton, is heading the inquiry into the
