Award for Governor
(N.Z Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 8. The Governor-General (Sir Denis Blundell) has been created a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order bj r the Queen. The award, for personal services, was announced in Auckland today by a spokesman for the Royal Household. This knighthood, the G.C.V.0., is awarded at the personal discretion of the Queen, and is sometimes bestowed at the conclusion of Royal visits. Sir Denis Blundell was knighted in 1967, w'hen he was created Knight Commander of the Most Ex- j cellent Order of the British Empire. Just before he left England to take up the post of Governor-General, he was appointed a Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St Miichael and St George.
