(drivers. Last season he finished first I equal in the South Island cham-| pionship with E. Murray, but| there is no chance of a repetition. Murray has withdrawn lor ! the rest of the season. His chief rivals promise to be'
R. Clive (Cortina), a former holder of the title, and L. Millar (Datsun), who displayed out standing form in the test match* between Australia and New Zealand earlier this season J. McKitterick and B Tullet could upset the expected outcome. McKitterick won the South Island title for two successive seasons until he lc.st it early last year. Tonight he will drive the aging but immaculately prepared VB-60 which has served him u ell in the past. Tullet is competing in his first season of midget-car racing, but he is a driver of considerable experience. G. Roxburgh, who has been in the best form of his long career, is another driver who should be I prominent. The South Island motor-cycle sideear championship will also be at stake on Saturday night. In this, tiie 53-year-old New Zealand champion, L. Dwight sen., flees a stern test of his ability. His gon, L.
