Whitlam in Burma
jl t’.V.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) RANGOON, Feb. 5. > The Australian Prime Minister (Mr Whitlam) and the I Chairman of the Burmese Revolutionary Council (U Ne; Win) are having wide-ran-ging talks in Rangoon today, the topics under discussion including a review of bilateral relations, with special ■ emphasis on trade, and Australian aid to Burma under the Colombo Plan, which has (totalled SUSIO.Sm since 11954. Australian officials say, that Mr Whitlam may have also raised the matter of oildrilling rights in the Burmese Gulf: the Burmese Government has narrowed down applications for rights' to six or seven, a short-list which includes Broken Hill! Proprietary Limited. The Australian leader,; who is on a two-week tour of South-East Asia, arrived from Vientiane, Laos, yesterday, and is the first Australian Prime Minister to visit Burma. He will leave for Sing-1 apore tomorrow.
