Games success

Sir, —While we are all busy back-slapping over our highly successful Commonwealth Games it crosses my mind that one person who should be given some credit seems to be, instead, on the receiving end of some scorn. I refer to the Mayor. While rather lacking a smooth bedside manner he and the Labour councillors seem to have played a major part in our success. Could we not give some thought to their part in this? —Yours, etc., A. M. SCHULZ. February 3, 1974.
