INTEREST IN HOCKEY

Tickets to the value of $l4OO have been sold for the international hockey tournament in Christchurch from February 9 to 16. Full-p'age advertisements in local newspapers had created interest, said the chairman of the tournament tickets committee (Mr G. Payne) yesterday. Money was coming in at the average of about $lOO a day, he said. The committee did not expect a great deal of tickets to be presold because of the large number of seats which would be available at the Queen Elizabeth II Park stadium.

Those sold were mainly for the first and last days of the tournament — both Saturdays.
