PARK GUIDE
The fifth edition of the official guide to the Mount Cook National Park, edited by H. E. Connor (Mt Cook National Park Board, 63 pp.) maintains the high standards set by such publications. With chapters on flora and fauna, the mountains and their geology, huts, tracks, place names and, last but not least, weather, the guide provides in a limited scope and at a modest price all the information required by the average visitor to the park. The text is complemented by attractive line drawings and some first-rate photographs, besides a useful fold-out map.
