WOOL PRICE LOWER

At 161.0190 c per kilogram the average price for wool sold at the last Christchurch wool sale on January 18 was almost life, or 6 to 7 per cent, lower than it was at the December sale, and more than 2 l|c or 11 to 12 per cent behind the average price at the January sale last year. According to information supplied by the secretary of the Christchurch Woolbrokers’ Association, Mr M. C. Tipping, 4,904,267 kilograms of wool in 31,630 bales were sold for a gross return of $7,896,799.43. The average price per bale was $249.66.
