Charity to benefit

The Canterbury branch of the Laura Fergusson Trust for Disabled Persons, which will receive the proceeds from the Royal Variety Concert in the Christchurch Town Hall tonight, needs to raise $5OOO by February 20. The branch chairman (Mr P. M. Hargreaves) said that if that amount was raised the chairman of the national trust (Sir William Stevenson) would match it with an equal amount. The Canterbury branch wants to establish a home for the disabled in Christchurch. The trustees are looking for a site where the home will be built.
