The combined Australian universities match against New Zealand universities at Adelaide was washed out on the third and final day by rain which set in early in the afternoon. In the New Zealand universities’ second innings J. Matheson and J. Wiltshire carried the overnight score of 13 for two to 34 when Matheson was caught. Then came partnerships between Wiltshire and B. Bhana and between Bhana and K. Steele, which carried the team out of danger.
New Zealand universities 135 and 149/5 (Bhana 49, Wiltshire 47, Steele 28 not out: K. Griffith 3/32), Australian universities 208/5 declared.
