Heavy rain forecast in Adelaide

(From D. I CAMERON) ADELAIDE.

The New Zealand cricketers hopefully, perhaps even prayerfully, looked up at the cloudy Adelaide skies which produced persistent rain there yesterday afternoon. They were even more interested to see a frontpage story in the evening newspaper under the heading of “Big rain heading here now.” The newspaper said that a water-laden tropical lowpressure trough was headed towards Adelaide, and was expected to bring torrential rain to the city last evening. If the local experts are right, and the rain does arrive, it might stop any further play in the third cricket test between Australia and New’ Zealand, due to resume at the Adelaide oval this morning. With two days of play left. New' Zealand, with 218 and 98 for four wickets, is still 161 runs behind the Australian first innings total of 477.
