A 15-ton, pressure conitainer. being transported Ifrom the Union Steam Ship Company’s seacargo terminal at Lyttelton, fell from a trailer when its chain lashings snapped at the intersection of Oxford Street and (Gladstone Ouav earlv vesterdav morning. The containei. which was! bound for the Christchurch, gasworks, was recently un-1 loaded from the Tasman roll-1 ’ on vessel Maheno. . The container was re-1 1 moved to Cashin Quay by. forklift. After an inspection, it was cleared for transit to' 1 town. A faint odour of; ammonia was thought to have come from a release I valve.
