Splash-down rehearsal

(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter— Copyright) CAPE CANAVERAL. Jan. 29. A dress rehearsal for the splashdown of the Skylab 3 astronauts on February 9 has begun at the Johnson Space Centre in Houston, Texas.

As the astronauts continued their scientific experiments in space, a support crew of astronauts in .an Earthbound Apollo simu- | lator yesterday went through all the manoeuvres needed to check the command mod;ule, undock it, and head for la rendezvous with the recovery ship New Orleans off ’the coast of San Diego. The rehearsal is necessary' to help to refresh the memories of the orbiting astronauts on techniques and manoeuvres to be used, and to |“tune up” the teams of i flightcontrollers who will be handling the voyage home of Lieutenant-Colonels Gerald Carr and William Pogue and Dr Edward Gibson.
