' NO OBJECTION RAISED’

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Jan. 28. The editor of the “Sunday Times,” Mr Frank Haden, said tonight that the Games organisers had raised no objection when the “Dominion” announced last Friday that Dick Quax would write for the newspaper. “They asked the ‘Sunday Times’ for an assurance that they were not paying him, and we gave that assurance,” he said.

“The fact is that he wrote some home truths about the dirty tactics adopted by the Kenyans. “My point is that one should not be stopped from criticising a man because he is black. “I am sure that if Quax’s criticism had been made of athletes from some other country 7, such as the Canadians, he would not have been asked to leave.”
