RIVER RACE AT 100 M.P.H.
(N.Z. Press Association.! BLENHEIM. P. Knight (Christchurch), in his massive hydroplane Road Runner, spread-eagled the field to win the Pelorus Jack Trophy, the feature race of the Marlborough Power Boat Association’s regatta on the Wairau River.
Knight had the boat up to over 100 m.p.h. on the straights to win by about a third of a lap. Miss Pring (Nelson) was second and Tiger V (Blenheim) third. Tiger V (C. Dungey) later won the South Island 5000c.c. championship, from Casino (Christchurch).
