Storm in a bathtub

LONDON, Jan 28. Two members of Parliawent today protested against an official advertisement urging couples to save fuel by sharing a hath. ••Deplorably vulgar and in the worst possible taste.” said the Conservative member for Oldbury and Halesowen (Mr John Stokes). The State-run gas industrv aroused his ire with the advertisement showing a man and girl in the tub. captioned: “Put a bit of romance into your bath by sharing the water.” Mr Stokes said that he was all for saving fuel but added: “I find this advertisement extraordinary, coming from a nationalised industry front which we ought to be able to expect the highest standards." A similar protest was voiced by another Conservative (Mr J. R. Kinsey. Perry Barr) who said: “I am shocked. It is debasing the standards of the Gas Board to suggest that we should share our baths.”
