Fine croquet form

D. Bulloch, of Dunedin, won the men's title at the South Island croquet tournament at Timaru at the week-end when he beat R. Murfitt, of Christchurch, 26-18.

The women’s championship was won by Mrs L. G. Middlemiss (Pukekohe), who beat Mrs W. Walker (Timaru), 26-20. The fine form by many players continued over the week-end, Mrs Middlemiss scoring a break of 11 in the open chamiponship, and Mrs R. Richardson scoring an all-round break In the handicap singles. Play finishes on Monday. Results:—

Open championship.—-First life, fourth round: R. Murfitt (Christchurch) beat D. Bulloch (Dunedin). 26-16. First life, final: R. Murfitt beat J. McNab (Christchurch), 26-14. Second life, fourth round: Mrs L. G. Middlemiss (Pukekohe) beat M. Porter (Oamaru). 26-21.
