Fine croquet form
D. Bulloch, of Dunedin, won the men's title at the South Island croquet tournament at Timaru at the week-end when he beat R. Murfitt, of Christchurch, 26-18.
The women’s championship was won by Mrs L. G. Middlemiss (Pukekohe), who beat Mrs W. Walker (Timaru), 26-20. The fine form by many players continued over the week-end, Mrs Middlemiss scoring a break of 11 in the open chamiponship, and Mrs R. Richardson scoring an all-round break In the handicap singles. Play finishes on Monday. Results:—

Collombin (Switzerland) fought off a powerful Italian challenge to win his fourth World Cup downhill race this season, but needs one more to win, next week at the world championships at St Moritz. Collombin aged 27. by far the most impressive skier this winter. skied the 3848 yd “Streif” track at Kitzbuehel, Austriaconsidered the most difficult in the world—in record time, ahead of three Italian outsiders.
