Green Lane Hospital on Thursday after he injured a knee while fighting a factory! fire at Ellerslie. About 50 firemen in 13 appliances fought with the fire, which swept through the top floor of the Union Carbide. Ltd, premises at 143 Marua Road. The fire began just after 4 p.m. An hour later firemen had it under control, but parts of it were still burning at 6 p.m. Mr M. E. Doughty, Operational co-ordination officer at the scene, said the fire had destroyed about twothirds of the 10,000 sq. ft top floor, used to contain cardboard cartons.
