Pit Stops
The Mobil Economy Run, which has been a regular feature of British motor sport for many years, will not be held again. The sponsoring company says rising costs and the uncertainty of oil supplies are the reasons for the decision. The Trojan company has announced a new Tauranac-designed Formula 5000 car which, the company says, has been designed for five years of further development. A, Granatelli, of the STP Corporation, has reaffirmed that he will not return to U.S.A.C. singleseater racing or the Indianapolis 500 event next year unless “significant changes are made to reduce racing speeds.” He also praised the New Zealand driver, Graham McRae, and said: “I regard him as a young driver with very great potential in the years ahead.”
