Drugs cache found
(N.Z. Pres* Association) DUNEDIN. The biggest cache of narcotics to be recovered by Dunedin detectives was found in bush in the central city on Tuesday night. The drugs, which were found in a brown carrying-case, included opium, morphine, cocaine and heroin. With the drugs were professional burglary tools and medical equipment, including syringes. The head of the Dunedin; C. I. B. (Chief Inspector E. T. Mitten) said the drugs would be worth at least $7OOO on the black market. Mr Mitten said some of the haul was believed to have] come from recent offences ’ committed in the Dunedin, area, and inquiries were being ] made, into the origin of the rest.
The equipment was; obviously a professional; burglary kit. Mr Mitten said the cache was found after information received during investigations by detectives.
