Jameson salvaged M.C.C.’s pride when the touring team’s opening first-das match of their West Indies tour, against the Wind ward Islands, eventually beat the weather on Saturday The three-day game, whicl was due to start on Saturday was held up until lunch on Saturday, and the captains agreed it should be a one innings contest. The M.C.C. batted first after M. Findlay of the Wind ward Islands had won the toss, and in 75 minutes the tourists plunged to 53 tor four. But Boycott and Jameson combined in an enterprising stand of 56 in under an hour, and when the rains returned to end play 90 minutes early, the M.C.C. was 124 for five Jameson was out for 39. a belligerent innings which included five fours and a six but Boycott was still there with 36 not out. Of the other batsmen, D 1.. Amiss scored 28 in an opening stand with Bovcott of 33.
