Eight cars excluded
I The Formula Ford singleseater race at Wigram yesterday provided a close linpsh, and it also provided some post-race drama: after a protest, eight cars were excluded from the results. The cars were found to have had their distributors modified so that the vacuum i advance and retard mechjanism was put out of action. Such a modification was titled by the stewards to be against the regulations. In the race. P. Hughes (Bowin) led at the end of the ■first lap after N. Smith (Hustler) had been shunted out of the lead on the loop by D. Wood (Ray). J. R. Murdoch (Begg) quickly moved up to' second and took the lead from Hughes with one lap to! Smith worked his way up 'through the field to finish ; third, after also displacing! Hughes. Half a second j, covered the first three cars' across the line. .
