ACID FUMES

A small quantity of hydrochloric acid fumes escaped from a leaking plastic container on the Lyttelton wharf after discharge from the coastal motor-vessel Holmdale yesterday morning. An emergency tender and a fire appliance attended the scene. The container was decanted and the contents removed byj representatives of Kempthorne Prosser, and Company, Ltd. of Hornby. There was virtually no dis-' ruption of cargo work.
