Goolagong in the women’s singles final of the New South Wales Open tennis championships at White City. She played a superb tactical match to beat the 1971 : Wimbledon champion. 6-2. '6-3. The ninth-seeded QueensTander. G. Masters, won the men’s final with an easy vic;tory over C Dibley. Masters dominated from the start to heat his Davis Cup teamImate, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2.
