Mrs Polly Mason, a former Negro slave born when Franklin Pierce was President of the United States, died at her Woodworth home today aged 118. Recently asked to what she attributed her long life she replied: “Red beans and rice, chewing tobacco, and a quart of corn liquor every day for the last 80 years.”
