Otago B was in a strong position after scoring 242 for seven declared on the first day of the two-day cricket match against Canterbury B at Hagley Oval. In reply, Canterbury was 50 for two.
Partnerships of 65 by D. Crombie and G. Williams, and of 85 between Crombie and L. Wilson, were the mainstays of the Otago innings. Scores: Otago B 242/7 dec. (Crombie 59, P. Facoory 33, Williams 45. D. Dempsey 28, Wilson 23; P. G. D’Auvergne 4/33), Canterbury B 50/2.
