NATIONAL SHOOT

Gold winner competing

(N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON.

Lord Swansea, who won a gold medal for Wales in the 1966 Commonwealth Games at Kingston, Jamaica, heads a list of 22 British shooters who have entered the national rifle championships which begin at Trentham on Saturday.

Lord Swansea will be competing for Wales in the Christchurch Games.

The Trentham championships are the last major fixture for shooters before the Games begin on January 24.

Two other members of the British party, K. Pilcher, of Surrey, and J. Spaight, of Norfolk, are members of the England Commonwealth Games team.

For the first time, Tonga has entered riflemen at the championships, their representatives being T. Aa’angana and F. Fennkitau.

F. Godfrey, of Lower Hutt, and M. Gordon, of Hastings, are two New Zealand Games members who are competing.
