AUCKLAND.
The Rothmans interprovincial women’s softball championships were completed at Auckland yesterday with a series of trial games after which a national training squad was named, with New Zealand teams to play visiting New South Wales teams.
Nelson defeated Southland, 11-1, in a five-innings game to win the second division of the Rothmans women’s softball championships and the Mereweather Cup.
The training squad is: C. Kemp, P. Walters, D. Garrick, E. Roadley. S. Jacobs, S. Meeuws. B. Simpson, S. Inder (Auckland); I. Keating, P. Peleti,
P. Farrow, M. Marshall, D. Chapman, M. Ward (Wellington); E. Bowles, L. Fraser, L. Parker (Hawke’s Bay); J. Foote (Wairarapa); D. Lioble (Counties); L. Hawthorne (Nelson); R. Storer, S. Constable (Canterbury); N. Clyma (Otago). The New Zealand team for the first test against New South Wales at White Park, Papatoetoe, on Sunday, January 13. is: C. Kemp, S. Inder, E. Roadley, S. J. Jacobs, S. Meeuws, B Simpson (Auckland); D. Lioble (Counties); M. Marshall (Wellington); L. Parker (Hawke’s Bay). Reserves: D. Garrick, P. Walters (Auckland). The New Zealand team for the second test at Wellington on Sunday, January 20, is: I. Keating, P. Farrow, D. Chapman. M. Marshall, M. Ward (Wellington); J. Foote (Wairarapa); L. Hawthorne (Nelson); L.
