Fury’s Order injured
(Krom Our Own Reporter) AUCKLAND. ’ Th* Auckland Racing Club lost one of Its greatest attractions! for its Centennial Auckland Cup! st Ellerslie yesterday when! Fury’s Order was scratched! because of Injury. ’ The top three-year-old shied at a piece of paper when he wm working on Monday and pulled his off-hind plate, losing a portion of hoof in the process. He appeared to be all right when given light exercise yesterday but came oft the track showing signs of slight soreness. His connections felt that the situation was marginal but decided against a cup start. “If It had been a mile race we might have had another think about ft." said his trainer, W. McEwan. It is no dose-guarded secret that McEwan has had reservations about a cup start for Fury’s Order all the way along the line, but the owner, Mr L H. Bridgeman, was keen to run the colt. Peg's Pride, another strong fancy for the Cup, was scratched on Monday afternoon. A burst blood vessel In a foot put her out of the race.
