Helicopter rescue

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON.

A 24-year-old Wellington climber, Dennis Charles Hole, was lifted by Iroquois helicopter from the Kaimanawa ranges on Sunday afternoon and taken to Waiouru Hospital with a badly gashed right leg. A Waiouru police spokesman said that Mr Hole, the leader of a group of 15 members of the Wellington Mountaineering and Climbing Club, was negotiating logs across a stream about 15 miles south-east of Turangi on Saturday when a log snapped and he fell, badly gashing his lower right leg.
