R.C. TENNIS TITLES
(N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH. E. White (Manawatu) has beaten R. Bird (Waikato), 6-1, 6-0, in the final of the men’s singles at the national Roman Catholic tennis championships at New Plymouth. White and R. Keenan (Auckland) beat A. Caddy and K. Wright (both Auckland), 6-1, 6-0, in the men’s doubles. In the women’s singles, Miss P. Hem (Auckland) beat Miss J. Amer (Auckland), 7-5, 6-1. Miss M. Bond (Auckland) and Miss Amer won the women’s doubles, beating Mrs F. Lobb and Miss H. Lobb (both Auckland), 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. The Roman Catholic team which will visit Australia in May is:—
White, G. Wright (Manawatu); Bird, N. Munro (Waikato): B. Mulvery (Wellington); R. Wong, Miss C. Wong, Miss P. Hem, Mrs F. Lobb and Miss H. Lobb (Auckland).
