GUNS IN WOMAN’S LUGGAGE

■Z .P A.-Reuter— Copyright)

LONDON, Jan. 1

An American woman detained at Heathrow Airport with guns and ammunition in her luggage last night is still under intensive interrogation by Scotland Yard detectives trying to establish whether she was on a mission to the Middle East

The police say that she was watched passing through the airport control points after arriving from Los Angeles, and was arrested as she later made contact with a man in an airport bus.

The man was also arrested.

One unconfirmed press report says that two men were involved, and are thought to be Palestinians, although the woman herself is an American citizen.

While the questioning continues at Ealing police station, a heavy security watch has been placed on all Middle East flights.
