Turner in pain, and in doubt

The injured New Zealand opening batsman, G. M. Turner, may be able to bat only under difficulty in the second innings of the first test against Australia later this week. Turner suffered a blow on his injured right hand during his first innings yesterday afternoon. It jarred the fracture which had Turner in doubt for the first test and he was in some pain afterwards. The injury had been protected with a light splint, and Turner’s fitness to bat again in this test will be reviewed today.
