Mr Bray ‘in great form’

Mr A. Bray r , a United States Navy journalist broadcasting from McMurdo Sound radio station, had been on the air for 168 hours at 8 a.m. yesterday. However, his attempt at the world record for continuous broadcasting was set back when he discovered the record stood al 267 hours. He thought the record was 244 hours but the 267 mark was reached in London two years ago. He is not discouraged and has already passed the United States record of 144 hours. "We talked to him this morning, and he sounded in great form.” said a Deep Freeze spokesman at Harewood yesterday. “He is confident that he can last the distance.” If Mr Bray lasts until 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve he will break the record and exceed his goal of 85000 raised for the Huntsbury Hill Home for deprived children.
