Safe Air to buy Argosies
f.V Z. P/t'.ss Association) WELLINGTON. Safe Air. Ltd, will buy for an undisclosed price two Hawker Siddeley Argosy 222 freight aircraft plus spares from the Canadian airline Transair. Ltd. to augment its fleet of Bristol Freighters, the company said. The Argosy aircraft which has been engaged in trials, over the last two months,; was withdrawn at the weekend at the end of the evaluation period. It will go into service on the major freight routes in mid-January and a second Argosy will be made available by Transair in July. Safe Air will now make formal application to the Air Services Licensing Authority for a licence to use the Argosy aircraft on the New Zealand freight routes. A temporary licence was issued by the authority last Septern-] her to allow’ the proving flights.
