RACING Solar Flight might test Sub Indian today

“Win with Winsloe" — this Iras been a well-defined theme in southern racing so far this season, and the influence of the Gore leading trainer might be extended to the racing at Washdyke today.

Winsloe yesterday saddled Redlo and Magic Touch to fill the first two places in the Dunedin (iold Cup. 11c has withdrawn Magic Touch from the (Jordons Commonwealth 1600, the first leg of the South Canterbury Jockey Club's T.A.B. double, but in Solar Elight he has a horse capable of testing Canterbury’s best.

The last of an army of winners sired by the brilliantly successful Summertime, Solar Flight is in the right! form to make it a hard race for the Riccarton three-year-old Sub Indian. Lady Jet will run for the Winsloe stable in the second leg, the President’s Handicap.

She does not have a spring three-year-old record to square with her illustrious pedigree, but if the Oncidium—Our Lorraine filly finds something like her best-first-season form, the finish should have a pronounced youthful flavour. Another three-year-old in Grey Way might go into the race as favourite, after his! third in the James Hazlett Stakes at Wingatui earlier in the month.

M. J. Skelton, who has been Strad’s regular rider almost all the way along the line, has chosen Grey Way this time. But Strad, with (assistance from an apprentice allowance, might emerge as a strong contender. Riccarton’s bright hope will be Baltic Blue, which toiled earnestly on this ; course last summer for a win and a third—the third on the 1 first day behind the long shot, Bright Girl.
