Top teams to meet

Maranui and Avondale, winners and runners-up last year, will clash on the first day of the national interclub water polo tournament for the Ryan Cup at Olympic Pool, Auckland, today. The tournament will be held today, tomorrow and Saturday, after elimination series throughout the country. The eight finalists are Waitemata, Avondale and University, of Auckland, Maranui, Hutt and University. of Wellington, and Beck-enham-Sockbum, of Christchurch. Maranui should be the favourites; the team includes the New Zealand representatives, K. Mark, D. Spoor and R. Burgess.
Soccer,—South Korea won the sixth King’s Cup soccer tournament in Bangkok yesterday beating Malaysia. 2-1. The victory gave Korea the trophy for the fourth time in six years.
Tennis.—R. Pen! (Kamo), last year’s winner of the New Zealand Maori lawn tennis tournament heads the men’s seedings for the 1973 championships starting at the Lugton Park courts, > Hamilton, today. I
